Surround yourself with stories of boats and travel stories at the Red Star Line Museum
Red Star Line Museum is an absolute must on your visit to Antwerp. The main focus of the museum is the travel stories of two million passengers that travelled to the United States and Canada on board the Red Star Line between 1873 and 1934.
Their journey was a fascinating one. So fascinating in fact, that the museum is fully dedicated to re-telling it in full detail. From the departure in one’s hometown to one’s arrival in the promised land.
- Discover how long each passenger’s journey took.
- Learn about the hopes and dreams of the passengers and what kind of life awaited them.
- Find out how much money they needed for their journey.
- Uncover which “border checks” they underwent.
The main exhibit includes original documents, videos, household goods and other items. Most items were donated by families of immigrants.
